PROPERTIES

It stands out from other seaweed species because it is rich in protein and fiber. It has a high content of iodine, although less than other species.

HABITAT IN GALICIA

It is especially abundant in spring on the rocks gently beaten by the tide, where there are also mussels. Its delicate purplish sheets form large populations covering the rocks near the open sea beaches.

IN THE KITCHEN

Well known for its use in sushi. Rice can be used in combination with fruit, cheese, nuts, shrimp, avocado and vegetables.

Dry and toasted as an appetizer. Crushed for seasoning and flavoring creams, sauces, béchamel, etc.

Boiled in soups, creams, croquettes, scrambled eggs and rice dishes.

It goes very well without previous cooking in salads, paellas and soups.
